Support Group
Educational and emotional support is given to adult victims/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Childcare and/or transportation arrangements can be made. Intake is required, please call 452-4440 for more information.
Community Education
We see violence prevention as a vital component of our work. To the end, we provide:
- Beyond Tough Guise
- Advocate training, focusing on crisis intervention strategies and legal and community resource information
- Educational presentations, highlighting different aspects of domestic violence, sexual assault, diversity, and the impact of violence on children; call the Center to schedule a presentation
- Numerous community events, heightening public awareness of the frequency and severity of violence against women, children, and families
Advocacy
- Crisis Advocacy: trained advocates respond to the immediate and on-going needs of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault 24 hours a day. We provide:
- Short-term, emergency, and confidential housing for individuals escaping violence
- Legal, financial, shelter, and other resource referrals
- Assistance with preparing and filing Orders for Protection and Harassment
- Restraining Orders
- Diversity Advocacy: we serve families from diverse cultures who have experienced violence and discrimination in Winona. Translators and TTY are available. The WRC is accessible to persons with disabilities.

- Winona Domestic Assault Project (WDAP) works with law enforcement agencies and the criminal justice system to hold domestic violence perpetrators accountable for their actions.
- Sexual Assault Court Advocacy works with law enforcement and the criminal justice system to help victims negotiate and understand the court process.
- Civil Court Advocacy:
- Provide advocacy to victims in and Order for Protection or Harassment Restraining Order Hearings
- Provide advocacy in other civil court matters on a case-by-case basis.
